The conference fee included lunch in th emain college hall, and tea and coffee in the morning and afternoon. Tea at 15:30 at the end of the meeting was open to the local entrepreneurial community, and attendees were still enjoying the warm afternoon sunshine outside at 18:00, discussing the events of the day and admiring the college gardens.

The Place
Cambridge is famous for its university and for being the UK's most developed "science-based industry cluster". Cambridge itself is well described by a large number of websites and the Cambridge Network is a good guide to "the cluster" and also to other events happening in Cambridge.

Ivy Court archway The meeting was held in Pembroke College (est. 1347), in the centre of Cambridge, with an evening meal in college for those spending a night in Cambridge before the meeting. Six attendees took advantage of the unusual option of staying an extra night in college to enjoy part of the weekend in Cambridge.

We were lucky: it was a sunny day, fresh in the morning and warm later. Cambridge in mid-April can be as warm as 30oC, or as cold as 3oC; but it is usually fairly dry. You can see what the weather is like right now. Graphical charts of the weather in April since 1996 are available online.

Getting There
Pembroke College is on the corner of Trumpinton Street and Pembroke Street (see detailed map) with the main entrance on Trumpington Street. Note that there is no possibility of parking at the Pembroke College main entrance except to be let out of a taxi. The meeting was held in the Nihon Room. Cambridge is on the M11 and has two railway lines to London (Kings Cross and Liverpool Street). Detailed intructions online describe public transport routes. If you are driving, you are advised to use the Lion Yard car park, entrance by the Crowne Plaza hotel, or use the Park and Ride system from five locations outside the city. You can download a detailed map of the city centre showing bus routes.
